  • 「白い犬」シリーズ（アクリルまたは油彩）の絵画のみ注文制作を承っています。具体的な注文制作の進め方と価格はこちらでご案内しています。ページ後半のお客様の声もご参考になさってください。

    私の作品に描かれているのは「白い犬」ですが、実は犬ではなく、人間のおかしみを描いています。鑑賞者さんが絵を眺めながら自由にご自身や他の誰かに重ねてクスっとしたり、自然と想像が広っていくような余白を感じさせる表現を大切にしています。

    注文制作品であっても、それは同じです。お客様と楽しく打ち合わせしたご依頼内容に寄り添いながら、いつもの作品（個展販売作品）のように、一筆ずつ画面に起きることを対話しながら、遊ぶように1枚の絵を作り上げていきます。

    そのため、大変勝手ながら、内容によってはご依頼をお断りすることをご承知おきくださいませ。「ご依頼をお断りする可能性があるケース」をご覧ください。

  • 大変勝手ながら、白い犬のコンセプトとの兼ね合いで以下に該当する場合は、ご依頼をお断りすることをご承知おきくださいませ。

    • 過去販売済作品の複製（色だけ変えるなどはNG）

    • 愛犬・愛猫の肖像画。ただし二足歩行の「白い犬」の姿形から外れない範囲で、体の色全体を変えたり、目の周りと体にある程度の模様を描くご相談は可能です（短頭種への変更、毛足を見せる表現、垂れ耳への変更、目と鼻の位置やバランスを変えるなどは対象外）

    • 白い犬がおまけとして小さく描かれているだけの構図（建物や風景がメインなど）

    • 他の方の著作権・商標権に抵触する図像を描く、それらが印刷された印刷物を貼り付ける（特定の建物、商品、柄もの、キャラは要注意です）

    • 「白い犬」がやりそうにないことをしている　※1

      配色、模様、筆致、小物の再現、技法など細かな指示の割合があまりにも多い場合 ※2

    • その他、私の表現やこれまでの世界観からかけ離れるもの　※3

    • 着せ替え、コスプレのように全身に衣装を着させるもの　※4

    • 私の普段の個展会場に仮に展示するとしたら違和感を感じさせる可能性があるもの　※5

    ※1　仮にその作品を、私の個展会場で通常の作品たちと並べたときに、私自身やこれまでのお客様がご覧になって違和感を感じたり、共感を得にくいもの（シーンがパーソナルすぎて「白い犬」の余白がない）はお断りしています。言語化が難しいところですが、ぜひ個展会場で直接作品をご覧になったり、過去作品を本サイトでじっくりご覧いただだくことをおすすめします。「白い犬」は特定の誰かを描くものでありませんが、人間誰しもが持つ、人間臭さ、クスっとくるおかしみを描くのがコンセプトなので、そこから離れた性質の描写は行いません

    ※2　お客様の実現したいことが隅々まで決まっていている場合は、商業的イラストレーションを生業とする方にご相談することをおすすめします。注文制作は、必須で盛り込みたい要素以外は、画家としての私の遊び心や判断を楽しみにしたい、とお考えになる方に向いています

    ※3　曖昧かつ僭越かもしれませんが、私のこれまでの作風や世界観を気にって依頼してくださっている前提ですので、私の好み（画風や描写するシーン）と大きく離れ、良い結果を産まなさそうと私が判断せざるを得ないテーマなどはお受けしていません

    ※4　白い犬の体が白く、また名前を一切つけてこなかったのは、特定の誰かの話の絵を描くのではなく、鑑賞者さんがご自身や誰かに思いを馳せることのできる余白をもたせたかったからです。これまでマフラーや衣装の一部を着た絵を描いていますが、それらは状況の説明をする要素にとどまります。ですがコスプレをした絵は、特定の誰か、限定的な存在になりすぎたり、私たち”誰もが”持つ「おかしみ」から遠のく可能性が高いため、お断りしています。

    ※5　注文制作作品は、ご依頼者様のパーソナルなお話を元に展開できる作品ではありますが、私の通常の個展会場にあっても違和感のないもの（これまでの世界観から逸脱していない、鑑賞者が自分や誰かを重ねる余白があるもの）を制作しています。実際に会場にお客様からのご注文品を展示するわけではありませんが、ご依頼をお受けする判断基準として、私はこのように考えていることをお知らせさせてください。

  • 「家族1人1人の性格を表すようなワンシーンが白い犬の絵になったら…！」

    「写真とは別に、思い出の楽しいシーンを白い犬で残したい！」

    「現実では叶わないようなずっとやってみたかったことを絵の中で実現させられたら！」

    こんな白い犬のクスっとした絵があったらいいな、を叶えられるのが注文制作の醍醐味です。

    具体的なアイディアはないんだけれど…などのご心配は不要！事前に個展で実物を眺めたり、過去の「白い犬」シリーズをチェックした後は、まずは注文制作を依頼してみたいと思うに至った経緯と今時点でのお考えをメールしていただくだけ！（※）その後、無料のオンライン打ち合わせにて、絵にしてみたいシーンや楽しかったことに思いを馳せながら、自由におしゃべりしていただくだけで大丈夫。私がその場でどう絵に落とし込むか、アイディアをどんどん出していきますのでお任せください。「それいいね」だけでなく「それは違うかな」も遠慮なく教えてください。細かすぎるけど最高！ぐっと来る！を一緒に追求しましょう！

    ※「白い犬」のコンセプトから外れる可能性があるご依頼と判断した場合は、確認のために、この時点で何度かメールのやりとりをさせていただく場合があります。

  • 私は、テーマにしたい具体的なシーンやそのエピソードだけでなく、ご注文者様ご自身のことも含めてお話を聞き、絵を組み立てていくプロセスが大好きです。絵を迎えるのが初めての方も大丈夫。インテリアとの相性や、飾り方も含め、アイディアをたくさんお出ししますので、どうぞまずはお気軽にメールください。

    Please note that these commissions are accepted for the creation of paintings for personal or corporate viewing. If you are considering secondary use in printed materials or media through reproduction images, a separate contract will be required.

  • Currently, I am accepting commissions for paintings from the 'The White Dog'  series (in either acrylic or oil). For detailed information on how to proceed with a commission and pricing, please go here. I also encourage you to check out the client testimonials of this page.

    The figure depicted in my artwork is called "The White Dog," but it’s not just a dog but a reflection of ourselves; I capture small joys and amusing moments in our daily lives. I cherish an open-ended expression that allows viewers to freely project themselves or others onto The White Dog, allowing for a smile or the natural expansion of their imagination as they engage with the painting.

    This approach remains the same even for commissioned pieces. While I reflect the client’s requests following our enjoyable discussions onto the piece, I still enjoy each piece in a playful manner, interacting with every brushstroke as I would with my regular works (those available for sale at my solo exhibits).

    Therefore, please kindly note that I may decline a commission depending on its content. For more information, please refer to the next section titled “Cases in Which I May Decline Your Request.”

  • Please kindly understand that, depending on how it aligns with the concept of "The White Dog," I may have to decline your commission if it falls under any of the following categories:

    • Replicating a previously sold piece (even with just a color change)

    • Creating a portrait of your pet dog / cat. However, I am open to requests that involve changing the overall body color or adding certain markings around the eyes and body, provided they do not alter the two-legged form of "The White Dog." (Changes like modifying to a short-nosed breed, expressing fur length, altering to droopy ears, or changing the position and balance of the eyes and nose are not acceptable.)

    • A composition in which The White Dog is merely a small, secondary element (e.g., the main focus is a building or landscape)

    • Including imagery that infringes on others' copyright or trademarks, or attaching printed materials featuring such imagery. (Be cautious with specific buildings, products, patterns, or characters)

    • Depicting The White Dog doing something they would not typically do [Note 1]

    • Including plenty of finely detailed instructions to the artist regarding color schemes, patterns, brushwork, accessories, or techniques [Note 2]

    • Anything that significantly deviates from my style or the world I have established in my works [Note 3]

    • Requests that involve dressing up The White Dog in full outfits, like in costume or cosplay [Note 4]

    • If a commissioned piece wouldn’t quite fit within the setting of my usual solo exhibitions, I may decline the request. [Note 5]

    [Note 1] I may decline requests if, or, when the piece is displayed alongside my usual works at a solo exhibition, it feels out of place or difficult to resonate with, either for myself or for previous clients. This could be due to a scene being overly personal, leaving less possibility to allow viewers to fully project themselves or others onto The White Dog or expand their imagination as they engage with the painting. I realize this is hard to put into words, so I highly recommend that you view my works in person at an exhibition or explore my past works thoroughly on this website. The White Dog is not meant to depict a specific individual; rather, the concept is to capture the humorous aspects of human nature that everyone can relate to, even though others don't have the opportunity to see your commission piece. Therefore, I avoid depicting scenes that stray too far from this essence. But I try to put your personal situation into your piece with a lot of ideas!

    [Note 2] If you already have every concrete aspect of the artwork planned out, I recommend consulting with a commercial illustrator whose specialty lies in realizing specific visions. My commissions are best suited for those who look forward to leaving room for my playful spirit and judgment as an artist, except for the essential elements that must be included.

    [Note 3] This may be vague and perhaps presumptuous, but I work under the assumption that clients appreciate my previous style and worldviews when commissioning me. Thus, if a theme greatly deviates from my aesthetic preferences (in terms of art style or depicted scenes) and seems unlikely to yield a positive outcome, I may have to decline the request.

    [Note 4] The reason The White Dog is portrayed as having a white body and has never been given a name is to leave room for viewers to project themselves or others onto the character, rather than depicting the story of a particular individual. While I have painted The White Dog wearing scarves or partial outfits, these elements are limited to conveying certain situations. However, requests for full costumes or cosplay risk turning The White Dog into a specific, exclusive character, distancing it from our small joys and amusing moments in our daily lives. we all share.

    [Note 5] While commissioned works are based on personal stories shared by the client, I create pieces that would still feel natural in my usual exhibition spaces—works that align with my White Dog world and leave room for viewers to project themselves or others onto them. Although commissioned pieces are not actually displayed at my exhibitions, I use this perspective as a guiding principle when deciding whether to accept a request.

  • “What if there were a scene in a painting of The White Dog that represented the personality of each family member...?”

    “I want to preserve a fun memory in a different way than photographs　—through The White Dog!”

    “I’d love to make something I've always wanted to do, but couldn’t in reality, come true in a painting!”

    The true charm of a commissioned piece is bringing to life those playful ideas with The White Dog that make you smile.

    No need to worry if you don't have a concrete idea! After viewing my works at an exhibition or checking out my past “The White Dog” series, all you need to do is send me an email explaining how you came to consider commissioning a piece and what your current thoughts are! *

    After that, we will have a free online meeting where you can freely chat and reminisce about scenes or moments you'd like to capture in the painting. I’ll take care of brainstorming ways to translate those ideas onto the canvas, so please leave it to me. Feel free to tell me if you think, "That's great!" or "That's not quite it." Let's pursue that feeling of "this is perfect!" together!

    * If I find that the request may stray from the concept of The White Dog, we may need to exchange several emails at this stage for clarification.

    　

  • I love the process of building a painting, not only by hearing about the specific scene or episode you want to capture but also by learning about you, the client. Even if this is your first time welcoming a painting into your home, don’t worry. I will offer plenty of ideas, including how to match the artwork with your interior and ways to display it.       • Mr. O. ordered this work for his anniversary with his partner, who lives far away.

      • After consultation, I decided to depict their usual delightful moments at their favorite restaurant.

      • To show them sitting next to each other, I made them as a set of two paintings in a row. (Each piece can be considered a stand-alone piece, but they can also be enjoyed next to each other)

      • I have decided not to give it a title and leave it to Mr. O., so we left it as "Untitled" here.

      • He has seen my works in person at my solo exhibits and has purchased my work in the past.

  • 感慨深い、の一言につきますね。僕の言葉と思いが、作者を通じてひとつの作品となり、それが自分の手元に来たという、その事実が。しかも、今回はただの注文制作ではなく、作者も贈る相手も関係性があり（※）、自分だけで完結するわけではないことが、さらに感慨深さを感じさせたのかもしれません。

    その後、ふとした時に感じることとして、まだ飾ってから期間が短いので今後どのように感じていくかは分かりませんが、現状では、自分に関係のある素敵な絵が飾られていることに、充足感というかなんとも言えない良い気分になっています。

    それ以外だと、立体的な技法や、男女の描き別け、気軽に飾れる質感であること、などなどですね。

    実はRさんが「右が女性、左が男性ってなんでこんなに分かるんだろう」と感心しており、その話をテーマにしばらく話をしていました。

    なので、室伏さんが「それぞれの白い犬を、やりすぎないように、でも念じながら描き分けた」というのがとても良く伝わっていると思います。

  • したい。絵を飾る習慣のない人であっても、検討してみて欲しい。自分がまさにそうだったので。

  • 事前打ち合わせにおけるお客さんとの会話の中で、思いを汲み取って絵に落とし込むことに、室伏さんは非常に長けていると感じたため、まとまっていない事柄でも、とにかく言葉にすることが重要。

その他にも教えていただきました

  • 白い犬シリーズは事前にいくつか作品を見ていたのである程度のイメージはできていたのと、打ち合わせで思いは全て伝えきれていたので、ストレスなく行うことができた。

    また、制作申込書にて、内容の具体的な記載があったため、細かい齟齬を早めに修正することができた。ここをなるべく細かく記載することによって、すり合わせのストレスが減り、イメージの齟齬による、最終的な不満が減少すると感じた。

  • ありませんでした。しかしこれは、僕が室伏さんとの関係性がかなりあった（※）からという理由が強いと思われます。上述したように、事前打ち合わせでのヒアリングと、制作申込書の内容の箇条書きを丁寧にすることによって、不安は最低限に減らせると考えます。

    • まず、室伏さんに注文制作をお願いすることを思いついた。プレゼントに絵を贈ると決めており、それから室伏さんにお願いすることを決めた、という流れではない

    室伏さんにお願いする理由

    • 自分が白い犬シリーズが好き、室伏さんの画風がプレゼントを贈る相手の好みに合いそう、という理由があった。くすっとする日常というフレーズが、自分の中ではまったのもある

    • だがそれ以上に、自分と作者との関係性（≠関係性のない人に頼みたいわけではない）と、相手が一度つむぐり（以前室伏夫妻が経営していたカフェ）にも行ったことがあったことで、彼女に頼む必然性のようなものを自分の中で感じた

    • 室伏さんとの元々の関係性から、話から感じ取ったことを表現することが上手であるだろう、という期待があった

プレゼントを受け取ったパートナーさんのご感想

  • 最初は女の子（私）の絵をプレゼントしてもらいました。その後、男の子（彼）の絵を見せてもらいました。とても楽しい時間でした。

    彼の絵が部屋に飾られ、数日一緒に過ごしてみると、いつでも優しさや愛情に溢れる彼がそこにいて、リアルなケンカも癒してもらい、見るほどに幸せな気持ちになりました。

    そんな彼を毎日眺めて一緒に過ごしたかったので、彼の絵を連れて帰ることになりました。

  • Here is a testimonial from a customer who lives in Germany and shared their thoughts on her Instagram. Posted with permission:

    I love to see Emi represented in many ways in my life (which is something you will realise when you come to my home. I mean, she is even a tattoo of mine) and if it is through artwork, even better!

    Last year, I went to the Japanmarkt in Berlin and when I passed by the Kyoto Art Gallery booth, I saw a shirt that cought my eye and made me return right before leaving as I really wanted to take it home with me. It had as a print, a painting of a white dog eating a pizza, which I found so cute but most of all, made me smile everytime I saw this fun dog character that reflected fun human activities and joys.

    And this is how I got to met @shiho_murofushi. After following her Instagram account, I was happy to leave a comment that I got her shirt here in Berlin and that I was very happy with it, and from there, we started talking and of course, working together in this beautiful project (which will definitely be part of a series).

    Besides her amazing talent, she was so much fun and it was such a pleasure to get to meet her! She smoothly achieved a painting that makes me smile everytime I see it 🥰.

    "Sushi Chef Emi" shows Emi's secret sushi restaurant, with delightful animal customers.

    The restaurant guests that are enjoying many beautifully made sushi pieces, are represented by Fili (our tortoise🐢), and animals I have taken care of such as different birds and hedgehogs. And talking about the last ones, there is one customer that has enjoyed the Nurukan (warm Sake served about 35-40C) a little too much 🦔🤣.

    There are so many details in this painting that I would love to share but sadly IG doesn't allow more than 2.2k characters🥲. But it reflects my immense love for my pets, animals, Japanese culture and cousine (there is a reason why I gave my dog a Japanese name "Emiko", short Emi :) ).

    I love that Emi is protrayed without making The White Dog lose it's look and personality, this was really important to me as a fan of Shiho's painting series.

    @shiho_murofushi once again, thank you so much for your incredible talent but most of all, thank you for being such a wonderful person to work and talk with :). Looking forward for the next painting adventure! 🥳

Sunset Leaves on Stone Steps

このシリーズは現在承ることのできないシリーズですが、現在は白い犬シリーズであれば、このようにお客様のお手持ち作品の雰囲気やストーリーにあった作品制作も可能です。こちらのお客様は、以前私の個展でお買い求めいただいた作品 ‘Milk’ と一緒に飾ることのできる新たな作品をということで、後日、複数点同時にお任せくださいました。

This series is not available at this time, but I can offer commissions that match the atmosphere and story of an existing piece. (Only The White Dog series is available for now)  This client had already bought a piece, ‘Milk’, at my past exhibit, then several months later, she ordered new combination pieces that could be displayed alongside it

  • 2021年、展示会場で‘Milk’をご購入されたのは、この絵がご夫婦がこれから迎えるおだやかな二人だけの日常を切り取ったように感じられたからとのこと。

    ご自宅のリビングでしばらく単体で楽しまれた後、これと一緒に飾る作品群を、新たに注文制作としてオーダーしてくださいました。

    「この作品のように1枚の絵からストーリーを感じられるものを希望します。詳細はおまかせしたいです。」というリクエストでしたので、オンラインでお話を一度伺った後、異なるサイズやモチーフの組み合わせを数パターンご用意し、イメージに合うものを選んでいただきました。

  • 結婚30年超、50代夫婦です。子どもたちもそれぞれにパートナーをみつけて、ふたりに戻った静かな生活を送っています。今までの私たち夫婦を振り返ることができるような絵があるといいなと思い、前回ご縁あって購入させて頂いた作品と、併せてリビングに飾れるよう、作成をお願いしました。

    事前の打ち合わせは「これで絵の参考になるのかしら？」と思ってしまうくらいの楽しいおしゃべり。とりとめのない私の話と「室伏志保」の世界観が、いったいどうやってひとつになるのかと、待つ時間も楽しませて頂きました。

    残暑厳しい日に届いた作品は、晩秋の今、我が家のリビングでまた違った表情を見せています。たまに帰省する家族やお客様との話題にはもちろん、「ねえねえ、そういえばさあ、あの時あなたが…」などの夫婦の思い出話も、多くなったような気がします。これから時間や年月を経過するごとに、どんな表情をみせてくれるのか、楽しみでなりません。素晴らしい作品を私たちのもとへ運んでくださったこと、心より感謝しております。 2022年11月

  • In 2021, Ms. H. bought this piece, 'Milk', because she felt as if it captured the calm and peaceful morning of new life with her husband that was about to begin.

    After enjoying the painting on the wall for a while, she ordered more pieces.

    She said, "I want something that tells a story like this piece, but I'll leave the details up to you." Since I proposed multiple pieces, I first talked to her online, then prepared several patterns, sizes, and motifs and asked her to choose the combination that best suited her image.

  • I've been married for over 30 years, and both of us are in our 50s. Our kids have found their partners, so we've regained our quiet couple time together again.

    One day I thought it would be nice to have a painting that could make us look back on our journey as a couple. I had already purchased "Milk" from her back in 2021 so I asked her to create more pieces for me for our living room.

    The online meeting I had with her to prepare for the new pieces was so fun that I wondered if I could give references or inspiration to her and include it in her work But I also enjoyed the waiting time afterward and wondered how my rambling chat and Shiho Murofushi's world would come together.

    Our new pieces, which arrived on a late summer hot day, now show us a different expression in the living room in late autumn. They can provide us with topics when our children's families occasionally return home, or other guests stop by. And, of course, I feel like we talk about our memories as a couple more often than before, such as "Hey, you know, when you..." I can't wait to see what expressions our pieces will show us, as time and years go by. I sincerely appreciate you for bringing your wonderful work to us.
